STEVEN GERRARD is delighted with the way that Lassana Coulibaly has settled in to life at Rangers and is excited to watch him continue to improve.
The Mali international scored the third goal of the game against Maribor to give the Gers a two goal lead in the Europa League at Ibrox.
Coulibaly joined the Gers in July and Gerrard says that despite impressing early on in his Rangers career, he still has more to come. He said: “He has had three full games for us.
“He didn’t really have many games in preseason, so if you are candid about it, he is still in preseason in terms of fitness and where he can get to.
“He is starting to find some consistency. I thought that against Aberdeen he was superb, he put in a real selfless performance out there for the team.
“He did a lot of running, a lot of dirty running for the team and again last night I thought he was superb again.
“If we can find that kind of consistency from Lassana, I think we can enjoy him for the full season and anything beyond that we’ll have to wait and see what happens.”
The Light Blues have no new injury concerns following the game against Maribor, with Ryan Jack the only addition to the players who continue to miss out through injury.
The manager gave an update on the fitness of the tireless midfielder and confirmed that he is progressing well. He said “Ryan Jack is improving.
“He has obviously had a big bang last week at Aberdeen. He’s taken it well, he’s a brave boy and he is recovering well.
“He is doing everything that he can to get back out on the pitch.
“He was out with the physio today, so he is back on his feet and in amongst training and hopefully after the weekend he can be back full training.”
Gerrard confirmed at today’s press conference today that wew Croatian signing Borna Barišić is available for selection and will be in the squad for Sunday’s match.
