JOE GARNER was thrilled to grab the injury-time winner for Rangers this afternoon to pay back the club’s supporters.
Following last week’s heavy defeat to Celtic, the Light Blues came from a goal down with two late strikes to sink the Jags for the fourth time this season.
And Garner dedicated the victory to the club’s supporters when he spoke to RangersTV.tv at full time.
He said: “It was a bit of a chaotic ending, but it’s always nice to get the three points and nice to score the late goal for the winner.
“After last week, we owed the fans one and they will go home happy tonight and have a better week than they did last week.
“Kenny has given me a couple of balls like that this year, such as the one against Motherwell – it was a great ball in and he has that in the locker. He’s a top player.”
Rangers played something of a different style in the game against Thistle this afternoon, with Garner feeling the benefits of that.
He added: “We were a bit more direct today and we have worked on it a good bit this week. I think we will probably work on it a little bit more and we need to be a little bit better in different areas.
“We got the three points and that was the main thing today after last week. We have three big games left, two of them being big home games, and we’ll work in the upcoming weeks and hopefully get some good results.”
The result also ensured the club will return to European competition next season for the first time in six years, with Garner desperate to be a part of that.
He concluded: “I don’t think many of the lads have played in Europe before , so it will be a test and something to look forward to.”
