PEDRO CAIXINHA was pleased with the players who made their Rangers debuts in tonight’s 1-0 victory over Progrès Niederkorn.
Dalcio, Ryan Jack and Fabio Cardoso all started the club’s Europa League first qualifying round, first leg at Ibrox while Daniel Candeias and Alfredo Morelos enjoyed substitute appearances in the second half when they replaced Jason Holt and Martyn Waghorn respectively.
All five summer signings looked comfortable in their new surroundings, with centre back Cardoso and defensive midfielder Jack in particular impressing in front of a sold-out stadium.
In the end it was Kenny Miller’s well-taken 37th minute strike which gave the Light Blues an important lead to take across Luxembourg next Tuesday, but Caixinha gave his thoughts on the new faces that featured this evening when he spoke to Rangers TV post-match.
He said: “No I’m happy with the team. I never discuss some individual points, I prefer to do it with the boys on a one v one situation.
“Now they have already felt what it means to play for Rangers, they have already felt what it means to play in Ibrox, totally sold out and totally dedicated to support the team.
“There are some of them that I need to have that one v one a little bit more to relax them and make them understand what the crowd is expecting from them.
“Sometimes it’s not a question of commit the mistake, but it’s more a question of being switched on all the time in the game. That’s what we are also looking for and that is something that is for us non-negotiable. I mean the focus, the attitude and the commitment needs to be all the time present.
“The mistakes are part of the human condition, so that’s what we are trying to get on the players in order for them to understand how massive this club is and the way you need to perform.”
