GRAHAM DORRANS says his debut double for Rangers was a moment he has been dreaming of since he was a kid.
The 30-year-old netted in each half, his second coming from the penalty spot in front of a packed away end at Fir Park and the midfielder admitted he snatched the ball from Josh Windass on coach’s orders.
Rangers 2-1 victory over Motherwell got Pedro Caixinha’s new look side off to a flying start in the Premiership.
Speaking to RangersTV Dorrans said: “It was a good debut, it is always nice to get a couple of goals but it was more important to get the three points.
“We spoke before the game and we stressed how important it was to get off to a good start and I thought we did that.
“Overall I am delighted. It was great for me personally; it is something I have always dreamed of since I was a kid so to come here and get a goal in my first game is great.
“There weren’t really any nerves when I went to take the penalty, Josh came in and wanted to take it but Helder Baptista spoke to me before the game and said I was to take it.
“I hope I’m on penalties from now on! For as long as I can keep putting the ball in the back of the net then I am sure I will be.
“We played really well in the first-half without finding the killer pass, I thought we lacked that in the final third but we are a new team and we have new players in there so I am sure that will come.”
Rangers dominated the first 45 minutes in Lanarkshire and Dorrans admits the Gers should have had more reward for their possession.
The next test for summer arrival from Norwich and his new teammates is to overcome Championship Dunfermline in Wednesday’s League Cup quarter-final.
He continued: “I think that clinical touch will come, we have a new team and we will keep working hard and take it from there.
“It was a difficult game for us but we managed to hang on in the end. I thought we controlled it in the first-half, we played some nice stuff and there are a lot of positives to take forward.
“We are going to go back onto the training field now and we have a game on Wednesday in the cup to work on it again.”
