WE look at some of the memorable moments that have happened on this day in the remarkable history of Rangers Football Club.

In 2002 roared back to the top of the SPL after a stunning victory over their Old Firm rivals to give Alex McLeish the perfect present for his first birthday as boss.

It was McLeish’s first league win over Celtic and the first home win for the Light Blues in this fixture for over two years and how the fans lapped it up.

The Light Blues overcame the setback of conceding the quickest goal ever in an Old Firm derby to edge out Celtic in a thrilling derby. Just nineteen seconds were on the clock when Chris Sutton put Celtic ahead, but Rangers hit back through Craig Moore, Ronald de Boer and Michael Mols.

John Hartson’s goal brought Celtic back into the game but Rangers held on to overtake their rivals at the top of the table.

In 2010 Rangers finished their Champions League campaign on six points after drawing 1-1 with Bursapor at the Ataturk Stadium.

A stunning first-half strike from Kenny Miller put Walter Smith’s men in dreamland in their final Group C game but Sercan Yidirim replied for the home side with just eleven minutes left to play.

Rangers played well on a night when 18-year-old Darren Cole was handed his first-team debut. The right-back, from Edinburgh, put in a composed display as did Kyle Hutton, 19, who was industrious alongside Lee McCulloch in the middle of the park.

Rangers edged closer to setting a new club record in 2013 for competitive wins in a row as they beat Ayr United 3-0 at Ibrox.

First-half goals from Jon Daly and Fraser Aird put the Light Blues firmly in command well before referee Euan Anderson’s whistle blew to mark the midway point.

Bilel Mohsni’s clincher five minutes from the end then wrapped up a comfortable success as he slammed in from close range.
