STEVEN DAVIS has been speaking to RangersTV after tonight’s wonderful Europa League win over Feyenoord, and praised the performance of his side.
The Ulsterman explained: “The European nights are always special, and it had an extra meaning to it tonight with Fernando’s passing, so we are delighted to get a win tonight. It was an important three points for us.
“We wanted to set our stall out early-on. Feyenoord are obviously comfortable on the ball and try to play from the back, so we tried to press them high up the pitch and from there, we got some good opportunities.
“We could have been a bit more comfortable at half-time, and then in the second half, they had a bit of possession but we felt comfortable and when they got through, Greegsy was there to stop them.”
Davis continued: “I thought the first-half performance on a whole was very good and we limited them I think to one shot, and we obviously had a number of chances ourselves. We were maybe a bit disappointed to only be going in one-up, but in the end, it was a really good start to the group for us.
“I think the manager spoke already about our home form being very important in the group, so it was vital we got off to a good start and we had a good opportunity to do that in front of our own fans here, and they were magnificent all night again and I am sure they enjoyed that one as well.
“Overall, we are delighted, and now the focus turns to St Johnstone.”
