MATT CROOKS has joined English League One side Scunthorpe United on loan until the end of the season.

The midfielder signed for Rangers on a pre-contract last January and joined the club this summer from Accrington Stanley alongside Josh Windass.

But the 22-year-old struggled with injuries in the opening part of the season after missing the team’s pre-season.

Crooks has made three appearances for Rangers since arriving at the club, making two substitutes appearances against Queen of the South in the League Cup and Kilmarnock in the league. His one start came at Tynecastle against Hearts.

Speaking to the media last week Crooks said: “I want to be at a big club and if I’m doing well at Rangers, it’s the best scenario for all parties.

“I can’t emphasise enough how honoured I feel to be here. But ultimately, I just want to play. The most enjoyment I get is playing games.

“The plan would be to go away, play a lot of football, and get back to being the player I was before coming back to Rangers in the summer.

“We’ve spoken and the manager understands my situation. But I appreciate that it has to be right for the club and myself.”
