DANIEL CANDEIAS hailed the belief in the Rangers squad for helping them achieve tonight’s stunning draw away to top La Liga outfit Villarreal.
The Gers were stunning, with Candeias playing a key role, setting up Scott Arfield for his first equaliser midway through the second half.
Speaking to RangersTV, Candeias said: “It was important for the club to come back to the Europa League. That was a hard game because Villarreal are a great team and played really well.
“But the team believed in ourselves and worked hard. When you play together it is fantastic for us.
“I enjoyed the game! When you play in the Europa League or the Champions League, every player enjoys it.
“When we finished the first half, the gaffer said in the dressing room to believe in ourselves and get a great result. I know we didn’t win, but a draw is a good result for us.”
Candeias paid tribute to the support of the 2,200 Gers fans in the stadium for their terrific backing, believing it to have really helped the Light Blues players achieve tonight’s wonderful result.
He continued: “We’ll take that great result for us and keep going. When the team believes, it is perfect. When you play together as a family, it is fantastic and the supporters came here tonight and were great too.
“In all the games, the supporters are very, very important and I think tonight they were the 12th player. It is a huge well done to the supporters.”
