DANIEL CANDEIAS says it was seeing a full Ibrox on television which made his mind up over joining Rangers.
The winger put pen to paper on a two year deal with the Gers to reunite with his former manager Pedro Caixinha and he admits watching the Gers in action at their Glasgow home pushed him to move from Benfica.
29-year-old Candeias is excited by Caixinha’s rebuilding project at the Light Blues and in his first interview he vowed to give his best to the Rangers support.
Speaking to RangersTV he said: “I am really happy, it is a really good opportunity for me to come to the club, it is a great club and I am looking forward to starting working with the team.
“It is a great club, especially because of the coach because of the project and message that he gave me and the idea he has for the team.
“Pedro called me and explained everything about the club and the project. Knowing him and hearing what he told me I would have never been able to say no to this project.
“I was excited from the first moment I got the call especially because of the history of the club. It is a big club in Europe and because of that I wanted to sign for the team.
“I am a fast player, I have technique but I would prefer other people to judge me, I don’t really like to say what kind of player I am.
“The coach knows me really well and it was with him, when we were at Nacional, that I gave my best performances and I believe he’ll be able to bring that out of me here once again.
“I play as a winger but first of all I want to help the team and I will do what the coach asks me to do and I’ll try to do that the best I can.
“I would prefer to play in my position but I would do whatever it takes to help the team and coach out.”
Now confirmed as a Rangers player the Portuguese wants to repay fans with more titles and says he can’t wait to run out at a full Ibrox.
He continued: “Rangers is a club that everyone knows worldwide and I know it is the club with the most titles in Scotland.
“Because of that and the games I had the opportunity to watch before I gave the final okay to the coach the atmosphere, the supporters and the stadium all made me really excited.
“My wish is to come here and win more titles because that is what every player wants and I want to give the supporters what they deserve.
“I have seen the stadium for the first time today and it is fantastic, I wish I was in it when it was full with the atmosphere I have seen on the television.”
