RANGERS legend John Brown has paid tribute to friend and former team mate Ray Wilkins.
The pair played more than 50 games together for Rangers and the nine-in-a-row defender was deeply saddened to hear of his friend’s passing.
Brown said: “I cannot begin to say how desperately sad I am right now and of course my thoughts are with Ray’s family.
“He wasn’t just a team-mate and superb footballer because when you stood with him on the pitch you were standing beside a friend for life.
“Ray was genuinely one of the best on and off the pitch. He was someone who took an interest in what was happening to others around him and was especially helpful to the young players at the club. He took a delight in seeing talented kids break through.
“It was a privilege to have played alongside Ray and to have known him as a true friend and gentleman. I won’t forget Ray Wilkins.”
