RANGERS this evening completed the signing of Billy King from Heart of Midlothian on a loan deal until the end of the season, and the winger just can’t wait to get started.
King, 21, has 20 appearances and two goals under his belt for the Jambos this season, and started their goalless draw with Hamilton Academical on Sunday.
Despite that, he feels he could have featured more for the Premiership’s third-placed side, and now he is hoping to play on a more regular basis for Mark Warburton’s Championship leaders.
Speaking exclusively to RangersTV.tv, King explained: “As most people know, I wasn’t getting that much game time at Hearts and I was getting a little frustrated. I asked the Gaffer [Robbie Neilson] if I could go on loan, and everything really just came about today.
“I’m delighted to be here, this is a massive club and it is a big opportunity for myself. I am on-loan until the summer, so hopefully I can make a big impression and we will see what happens then.”
Like most of Warburton’s signings so far in his Ibrox tenure, King is flexible in terms of where he can play, and he committed to giving his all in order to force his way into the manager’s plans as quickly as possible.
“I’ve come here with an open mind,” he continued. “I’ll work hard, do my best in training and give 100% to hopefully get into the team. At Hearts I played wide, but there the Gaffer usually only played one wide player, but here the manager likes to play two wide players and I think I have a good chance if I work hard in training and hopefully I will get a few games.
“I can play anywhere behind the striker too in the ‘hole’ position if you want to call it that, or I can play on the right or the left.”
King goes straight into the squad for Saturday’s first versus third clash with Falkirk in front of what is set to be a huge crowd at Ibrox.
The Scotland under-21 international has played at the stadium previously for his parent club, but he admits it will be a massive change for him to pull on the famous blue jersey and run out as a home player.
King added:”It will be brilliant and it will be a different experience for me. It’s a massive stadium, the fans are brilliant and it’s always got a great atmosphere, and I just can’t wait to get started.”
