RANGERS Soccer Schools can today announce they have signed a three-year agreement with FCDS, a youth academy based in Merida, Mexico.

It’s the first time the Light Blues have completed such a deal with a Mexican outfit, and will see Gers coaches travel to Merida to lead sessions with FCDS players and coaches.

They will then visit Glasgow on a yearly basis to gain experience of football in Europe, as well as to benefit from the fantastic facilities available at the Hummel Training Centre.

Giancarlo Salazar Mejia, CEO of Football Coaching DS commented: “As a person dedicated to football development in México, and child development through football, I feel really pleased and excited with this partnership with the most famous of all Scottish clubs.

“The way the club was founded and its honours inspire me in a great way to keep following our own dream. I am convinced that being part of a club with such quality standards, values and history will open a big door for Mexican young players that will to become a top-level footballer.

“I hope we can lead together the path for a greater and long-lasting relationship that make both of us proud of the results”

The club’s International Soccer Schools Executive Gary Crooks added: “The club are delighted to welcome our new partner FCDS. We are excited to begin the project which will see us travel to Merida, Mexico to work with staff and players within their academy.

“Groups from the local community will travel to Glasgow to continue their development by testing themselves against local opposition while accessing our fantastic facilities at the Hummel Training Centre where they receive first-class training sessions by our staff.

“Discussions have been ongoing with Giancarlo for a number of months now and we have been impressed with his professionalism, passion for the game and plans to assist the development of his academy.

“Myself and Gary Gibson [Soccer Schools Manager] are thrilled to enter another new marketplace in Mexico, which is a first for the international programme. It is a testament to the staff who continue to deliver a high quality of service across all the events around the world and this is shown with the continued grown within the department.”
