RANGERS Charity Foundation supporters successfully cycled an amazing 1,872 miles over the weekend as part of our first ever Ibrox Big Spinathon event.
The sold out fundraiser saw 72 supporters challenged to cycle a marathon 26 miles on spin bikes inside the Stadium from Friday 24th to Sunday 26th November.
Despite the weather, which included freezing temperatures, rain and snow, every one of the 72 completed their task well within their allotted three hour time slot.
We are delighted to announce the total amount raised by the event currently stands at just over £10,000, with additional sponsorship money still to be collected and added by some participants.
As our pictures show all of the fundraisers had a great time at what was a truly memorable experience.
Everybody was given an exclusive Ibrox Big Spinathon T-shirt on arrival at Ibrox before getting to walk down the tunnel to their bike, situated in front of the Enclosure under the Bill Struth Main Stand roof, which provided some protection from the elements.
Music, picked in advance by the cyclists, was played in the Stadium and Broxi was on hand to help keep motivation levels high throughout. Once finished, everyone then had the opportunity to pose for photographs by the pitch and warm up with some hot drinks.
Connal Cochrane, Rangers Charity Foundation Director, said: “This was the first time we have put on this event and it was a great success.
“The team spirit shown by the cyclists, who really supported each other, created such a special atmosphere over the three days and I can’t thank them enough for their enthusiasm in taking part. I would also like to say a special thank you to Paul Ferguson from Fitness Takeaway for making this challenge possible by kindly donating the spin bikes.
“The money raised will be used to help the Rangers Charity Foundation continue to make a big difference on behalf of the Rangers Family. Whether it is supporting one of our charity partners or ensuring we can continue to make a difference locally through our community programmes, every single mile cycled and pound raised will make a real impact.”
As with all of our challenge events each participant who took on this challenge and raised £100 or more in sponsorship will be invited along to an exclusive reception at Ibrox Stadium to be presented with a True Blue Hero medal by one of the Rangers First Team.
