ALONG with 65 other tragic supporters, Robert Mulholland didn’t return home from Ibrox on January 2, 1971.

Aged just 16, Robert perished on Stairway 13 as Rangers Football Club suffered its darkest day.

Touched by the his tragic story, fellow supporter Joe Burke had a memorial bench in Robert’s name placed in Victoria Park in 2011, but over the last few years, the bench has sadly suffered a lot of damage mainly due to the weather.

Joe therefore contacted the Rangers Graves Restoration project, and asked to be put in touch with one of their team, Chris Beglin, who had previously carried out restoration work on the memorial bench to the Markinch Boys in Fife.

Once again Chris took the bench to his workshop and has made an incredible transformation, while generously taking no payment for his work.
