THE Rangers Academy players who are in Valencia at a training camp have completed their second full day of work to prepare for the upcoming matches.
The players undertook some conditioning work in the gym before taking part in a couple of sessions on the pitch at their base in Valencia.
Under-20 captain Ross McCrorie has been impressed with the facilities available to the team at the Olivanova Golf Resort on the outskirts of Valencia and is looking forward to some hard work.
He said: “The facilities are great as is the gym and the pitches are as good as we’ve been used to at home.
“We’re getting back into it now after the Christmas break and preparing for the games that we’ll play here and for the rest of the season.
“We had a football conditioning session this morning and that was tough, but really good for us. We are working now to blow away our cobwebs before the second half of the season and make sure we’re ready for anything.”
There is a mix of youth and more experienced professional youth players in Spain, with six of the travelling party from the clubs under-17 side.
The trip will see the club’s under-20s squad take part in high intensity sessions in the Spanish sunshine as well as playing two friendly games whilst there.
The first match sees Ian Durrant’s Academy under-20 side take on Levante under-20s on January 12, with a second match against a younger Les Granotes side on the 14 January.
Centre-half Tom Lang has also made the trip and he has been equally as impressed with the facilities that are available to the squad through the trip, which has been part-funded by Erasmus, an EU student exchange programme.
He said: “The facilities are superb and I’ve really enjoyed it so far.
“We’ve been out training already and the pitches are fantastic. There’s a great gym facility that we can use in the morning too.
“We started off yesterday with a gym session then two sessions out on the pitches and we’re working hard to prepare for the games against Levante and for the second half of the season.
“I just want to get myself into the team to face Levante and then focus on kicking on for the rest of the season and making sure we are ready for when the league kicks off.”
