THE Rangers Academy Games Programme continued last night, with Cowdenbeath’s first-team defeated 3-0 at the Rangers Training Centre.
As well as taking on the cream of European football at their own age level, the programme was designed to also include matches against Scottish men’s teams, with Gers easily taking care of the League Two outfit.
The home side took the lead after 20 minutes through a superb individual effort from Manchester City loanee Aaron Nemane. Picking the ball up on the left, he slalomed between a number of Blue Brazil defenders before rifling the ball past the goalkeeper and into the back of the net.
Goal number two was under five minutes away, and as he always seems to do, it was Ryan Hardie finding the net this time. Jamie Barjonas played the ball through the middle for him, and while it appeared the Cowden defence had done enough to clear the ball, it rebounded off Hardie, back into his path, leaving him the simple task of finding the back of the net.
It took until the final 15 minutes of the game for the scoring to be rounded off. This time, Zak Rudden played Andy Dallas in-behind the visiting defence, and he finished with aplomb to seal a comfortable victory for the Light Blues.
RANGERS: L Kelly, Bradley (Houston, 45), A Wilson, Mayo, Shiels, Palmer, Barjonas, Thompson (S Kelly 61 mins), Nemane (Lyon, 61), Rudden, Hardie (Dallas, 61).
