SCOTT ROBERTS is hoping his hat-trick tonight can help him kick-on towards the first-team.

The young striker took the match ball home with him after grabbing three goals in the win over Falkirk, although he admits he will need to do more than just score goals to force his way into Mark Warburton’s plans.

Speaking afterwards he said: “I’m hoping to be there or thereabouts. It’s not just about goals though and I need to do it every week to have a chance

“I’m delighted with tonight though. I’ve been playing well this season without adding the goals, but I’m glad to put that right tonight.

“It wasn’t our best this evening, but it was still a decent performance and a good result.”

On his strikes, Roberts goals saw him sweep home from close range early on before firing one in from the edge of the area and then beating goalkeeper Lewis McMinn from a tight angle.

He continued: “It was all about making proper contact with the ball for me tonight, especially with the first one. The other two were instinctive and trying to hit the target.”
