RANGERS have the opportunity to clinch the SPFL Reserve League title today by beating Falkirk and hoping there isn’t a major swing in goal difference.
The Light Blues go into the final day of the season having won each of their last four matches to hold the advantage over Celtic, with the other half of the Old Firm hosting St Johnstone today. Both matches kick-off at 2pm.
Indeed there is a three-way tie at the top of the table, with each of Hibernian, Gers and Celtic tied on 35 points. However, Hibs have completed their season, and while they lead the way currently on goal difference, they would need both Old Firm clubs to lose tomorrow to clinch the title.
Gers’ advantage over Celtic is three goals, meaning there is some room for error, though they face a tough challenge against a Falkirk Reserves side who sit sixth and have only been beaten once at the Falkirk Stadium so far this season.
So to recap…
- Hibs are top of the table. They have 35 points and a goal difference of +27. They have, however played all 17 of their games and need Rangers and Celtic both to lose.
- Rangers are second. They have 35 points and a goal difference of +26. Their final game of the season is away to Falkirk tomorrow.
- Celtic are third. They have 35 points and a goal difference of +23. They play St Johnstone at Lennoxtown in their final match tomorrow.
Entry to today’s 2pm kick-off at the Falkirk Stadium is £5 for adults and £2 for kids.
