KAI Kennedy can’t wait to get on the pitch at Ibrox on Saturday as the Colts prepare to face Wrexham in the Tunnock’s Caramel Wafer Challenge Cup.
The 17-year-old says confidence is high in the squad after a run of four away victories saw the Colts earn their place in the last eight of the competition.
Speaking to RangersTV ahead of the game, he said: “I can’t wait, I am just buzzing to get on the pitch at Ibrox and I think all the boys are as well and I hope there is a good atmosphere.
“Going down to Solihull was good in the last round, the atmosphere was great for us and I think on Saturday the atmosphere should be good as well and we are all looking forward to it.
“The boys are all confident, we have had good results so far in the Youth League and in this cup and I think you can tell that all the boys are confident and we are playing well at the moment.”
The young Gers are the only Colts team remaining in the competition, and Kennedy believes they are getting better each year of the cup.
He explained: “I think this year we have done well, you can tell the boys are growing in confidence every year and I think the coaches are happy with us and we are doing well.
“For myself, I think it is good for me to play against men at this age and I think all the boys enjoy that as well, it has been a good step-up for us.”
Kennedy is hoping the squad can take their form from recent cup and UEFA Youth League matches into Saturday’s match.
He added: “We are really looking forward to this game on Saturday. I think Wrexham will be similar to Solihull but I think they might play a bit of football. If we take our performances into Saturday then I think we will be ok.
“All the boys have been talking about it in the dressing room, I hope it is a good atmosphere and I hope we just get the win.”
The match will kick-off at 3pm, and admission to the game is £10 for adults and £5 for concessions. Tickets can be purchased online HERE, by calling 0871 702 1872* or in person at The Rangers Ticket Centre.
