Jordan Houston RYDC Twitter Q&A

Rangers Academy defender Jordan Houston enjoyed a terrific start to the 2018/19 campaign – impressing for the Light Blues’ Development Squad and also in the Dark Blue of Scotland’s youth side – and he hopes his sparkling form will catch the eye of manager Steven Gerrard.

Houston, an 18-year-old attacking right back who loves scoring goals and creating chances for his team mates as much as preventing them at the other end of the pitch, knows he faces one of the toughest tasks at the football club as captain James Tavernier plays in his position.

That doesn’t faze the East Kilbride youngster, though, and he knows Academy players will always have the chance to stake a claim for progression to the first team.

He took part in a recent Twitter Q&A session for the Rangers Youth Development Company.

Check out the highlights of his session…

Q – M Leil – Where do you hope to be next season? I’d like to see you get your debut in the first team soon, would be great to see you on the big stage.

A – I hope to push for as many first team opportunities as possible here at Rangers or maybe even go out on loan to get first team experience.

Q – Jack Hart – What were your best childhood football memories?

A – Playing football with my pals in the street down at the local park, that was my first taste of football. We then made up a street team that my dad was the coach of and we entered a league. A good early experience

Q – Craig Jarvis – Best pitch you’ve played at? (has to be the cage in East Kilbride)

A – It has to be up there! Ibrox is the best by far and I have played at so many

Q – Harry Dunnigan – How long until you are in the first team?

A – I would take it at any time. I was. Rangers fan growing up so that is the dream to play first team football at Rangers.

Q – James – Favourite Rangers player past or present?

A – I first remember watching Rangers when I was younger and it would be Barry Ferguson. He had so many qualities and he was so passionate about the club. And of course a true leader

Q – PSCO1 – Smashing player, looking forward to his full debut, he’s only got the captain to dislodge so no pressure kid!

A – Tav and I are similar types of players. We want to help the team in the same way. it would be hard to dislodge anyone from the team but I will just do my best

Q – Kimmie – Who do you look up to in the first team?

A – In terms of advice given, Lee Wallace has been great and given me so much advice. Also Gareth McAuley. Not been here long but has given me some great tips

Q – Fiona – have your teammates ever screamed “Houston we have a problem” at you during a game?

A – It has cropped up in the dressing room as banter but not on the pitch

Q – Georgia – Favourite song?

A – I like a bit of everything. I don’t really mind what is on in the changing room. I like rap music, Drake is definitely up there. He is one of my favourites

Q – Stephen Kelly – Have you ever eaten a vegetable?

A – What is that?

Q – Jim – How many more years before you would like to be breaking Into the first team? PS congratulations on your recent form.

A – Thanks for the kind words – hopefully as soon as possible. I will just keep working hard and hopefully get the opportunity

Q – Stuart McDonald – Who has been your favourite youth coach and why?

A – Having been here for so long I have had so many coaches and they have all been great in different ways in terms of advice etc.

Q.- Naufal – Who do you look up to in the first team?

As I previously said Lee Wallace and Gareth McAuley have both been great in terms of giving me good advice to help my game
