Jack Thomson RYDC Twitter Q&A
Rangers Academy midfielder Jack Thomson took part in an exclusive Twitter Q&A session for the Rangers Youth Development Company during earlier this season.
The 18-year-old, a consistent performer for the young Light Blues side, featured alongside fellow Academy midfielder Cammy Palmer against a host of Rangers legends in a charity game at Ibrox last year.
Here are the highlights of his RYDC Q&A session….
Q – Rab – Which player or coach at Rangers has had the biggest influence on your career so far?
Q – I have taken bits from all the coaches I have worked with. When I was younger Jim McNee and Alan Boyd really helped me, then when I went full time I would say Billy Kirkwood and Graeme Murty. Kirky has helped me grow into a man and Murts has really helped my game develop
Q – Jude McIlreavy – Who is the best at FIFA?
A – Definitely me, I am on another level to everyone else here!
Q – Kimmie – What player do you look up to in the first team?
The way Ryan Jack plays and how good he is on the ball is something I aspire to. Jordan Rossiter as well. He is excellent when he trains with us and has a great attitude.
Q – What are your goals for this season?
A – I want to play as much football as possible and put in some strong performances for the reserve squad. Possibly even go out on loan in the second half of the season to get first team experience
Q – Brown Brogues – Who in the first team do you hope to emulate or live up to?
A – I take bits from everyone but I want to make a name for myself and if I have a career as good as Steven Gerrard, Gary McAllister or some of the staff on the youth department then I would be happy. Kevin Thomson had a great career for example.
Q – Colin – You v Billy Kirkwood, Peter Lovenkrands & Kevin Thomson. 5 penalties each. Who wins?
A – They are all top players but I think I have to back myself
Q – What do you see as your best strength?
A – My range of passing and I hate losing. I have a huge desire to win
Q – What is the next trophy you’ll win?
A – The Glasgow Cup would be great
Q – Kevin Thomson – When are you getting a haircut?
A – It’s done due to peer pressure!!
Q – Cairo Kearney – Do you see yourself staying at Rangers for the time being, you are killing it by the way, or going out on loan to develop and gain experience? Glad to see the likes of Ross McCrorie and Glenn Middleton come through and the fans take right to them. Good luck anyway.
A – Thank you. I would love to play my football and progress here but if that doesn’t happen I want to progress as a player elsewhere and see where it takes me. But I obviously want to play for Rangers.
