JORDAN HOUSTON was pleased to show both sides of his game against Mansfield Town on Saturday afternoon.
The defender found himself on the scoresheet and assisted Greg Stewart in the 4-2 defeat to the League 2 outfit, with Rangers twice pegging their opponents back.
Speaking post-match to RangersTV the defender reflected on the test against a senior first team.
He said: “The result was a bit disappointing obviously, coming away with a defeat considering that we played some nice football.
“I thought we could have deserved more from the game, but that’s the way it goes and when you come up against a first team, that’s what happens.”
Whilst first and foremost part of the team’s defensive unit, Houston recognised his role in the offensive aspect of the game and was pleased with his contribution.
He said: “Part of my game is going forward, that’s what I enjoy to do. To get a goal and an assist was obviously good so I’m happy with that.”
Adding: “It’s always good to get an assist, usually I would get more assists than goals in my games so it was good to assist Greg [Stewart]. It was lucky with the deflection but I’m sure it would have gone in anyway.”
Before the full-back expanded on his delight at finding the back of the net in Nottinghamshire.
He explained: “I’m pleased with it because I don’t get too many opportunities to shoot, I don’t often get on the scoresheet, so that was good for me.
“You use the bodies so the keeper can’t see and it takes a nice skid off the grass as well so that helps it go in.”
