RANGERS Development Squad have made it through to the final of the HKFC Soccer Sevens tournament. They take on Newcastle United and you can watch it live here.

The road to the final… Rangers had a superb group stage in Hong Kong, beating Newcastle Jets 3-0 and hosts Hong Kong Football Club 1-0. They drew 0-0 with Newcastle United in the final group game.

In the quarter-finals Rangers put two past Premier League outfit West Ham United, Liam Burt and Jamie Barjonas scoring, to set up a semi-final tie with Italian team Cagliari.

It was a tense semi-final which ended 1-1 after normal time, Kyle Bradley grabbed an equaliser after the Italians went ahead. The golden goal rule applies in this competition and in extra time the teams are reduced from seven to four men. Jack Thomson doubled up as a keeper for the Gers and they hit Cagliari on the counter-attack late on for Scott Gray to slot home a golden goal.

Rangers have been runners-up in the tournament twice before but have never won it. They were defeated at the semi-final stage last season by eventual winners Leicester City.
