WINGER Glenn Middleton was delighted with his fine double in today’s 4-0 win over Icelandic side Breidablik.
The former Norwich City starlet impressed as the Development Squad cruised to victory at Auchenhowie, with Myles Beerman and Stephen Kelly also on target.
Middleton, who now has four goals since his January move from the Canaries, said: “Yeah it was good. I think we are showing week in week out that we can compete with these teams we are coming up against from abroad.
It’s always good to get a couple of goals as well although things still aren’t perfect, we can always get better in the final third.
“I think we’ve done well to get the goals and the way we worked the ball through midfield to get it up front was good as well.
“Like I said the final bit is not quite there yet, the last pass or the finish, but hopefully it will come. We just need to keep working on it.”
Scotland Under-19 player Glenn is clearly enjoying life at Auchenhowie and he hopes his recent form can be a springboard for his Rangers career.
He continued: “I’m loving it and hopefully I’m just taking every opportunity that I get so you just keep sort of adding to your reputation. You never know what can happen.
I think mentally I’m just a bit happier been in the environment that I am in and it’s a good place to be.
“Everyone enjoys doing what they do every day, so yeah it’s a good place.”
Today’s match was part of the Development Squad’s Games Programme which has seen Rangers’ rising stars come up against some of Europe’s top clubs.
Middleton believes it is a great experience for all the talented teens involved.
He added: “Yeah, it’s a lot better than just playing the same sort of teams every single week that are going to set up the same way.
“This way you are playing different teams that have been brought up to play possession football and counting attacking football or whatever, so it’s good.”
