RANGERS Academy will once again be represented at the prestigious HKFC Citi Soccer Sevens tournament, which kicks off for Gers on Saturday.

The Light Blues were runners-up last season, being beaten 1-0 by Newcastle United in the final, while they have come second in the tournament previously in 2010 and 2009.

Graeme Murty’s side have been drawn in Group D with Wolves, Hong Kong Football Club and HKFA Red Dragons. If they finish first or second, they will progress to the main Cup quarter-finals, but should they come second or third, they’ll go through to the Plate quarter-finals.

Indeed, if they make it to the Cup quarter-finals and are defeated, they are given another chance to bring silverware home in the consolation Shield tournament.

First up for Rangers are Hong Kong FC at 8.40am (UK) on Saturday, followed by Wolves at 10.05am and HKFC Red Dragons at 11.30am.

The tournament is set to see the likes of Stephen Kelly, Kai Kennedy and Andy Dallas represent the Gers, with the Light Blue delegation led by coaches Graeme Murty and Peter Lovenkrands.

All matches will be streamed live, and we’ll be sharing links to those here on rangers.co.uk and our social media platforms.
