FIVE Academy players will depart the club this summer to play their football elsewhere.

Kyle Bradley, Myles Beerman, Liam Burt and Scott Gray will all move on from the Reserve squad while Jay Mack will move on from the under-18 group.

The Rangers Academy will help each of the players with an action plan to try to maximise their choices in the next step in their careers.  The players will now spend time with Academy staff to ensure they are supported and do not feel isolated in making the next step in their professional development.

Head of Academy Craig Mulholland said: “Bonds are built with the players and their families over a number of years and many of the staff have seen these lads develop from primary children into men.

“Often we reach decisions in the best interests of the players and by allowing them to go and develop their careers elsewhere at this point it will hopefully increase their chances of receiving a first team contract further down the line.

“It is the toughest part of the job to communicate these decisions to good lads you have grown to care about over many years.

“One of the key values within our Academy culture is ‘respect’ and it is important we break the news to the lads in the correct manner and now look after them in line with our Academy exit policy.

“All of the lads will now receive a presentation prepared by their coaches containing character references and a detailed breakdown of their strengths and playing stats, with video clips prepared by the analysts and physical data prepared by the sports scientists.  They will also meet with our education team to discuss their career plan in detail.

“We hope that when players leave the Academy they are not only better footballers than when they arrived but also better people who are well rounded individuals who can use the attributes they have gained to go on and have successful careers and indeed successful lives.”

Everyone at Rangers wishes every one of the players well and would like to thank them for all of their effort and hard work.  All of the lads will always be welcome back at Ibrox
