RANGERS confirmed a loan extension for Gedion Zelalem this week and manager Mark Warburton is delighted with a player he expects to go right to the top.

The 18 year-old midfielder, who is being loaned from Premier League leaders Arsenal, has so far made 15 appearances in Light Blue and has won wide praise for his performances.

Mark Warburton is delighted to confirm the extension for the exciting youngster, he said: “Gedion is a really talented young player who is just eighteen years of age.

“You just need to look at his achievements as a young player and where he is today.

“He moved to a club of Arsenal’s stature and played in the Champions League away at Galatasaraay at 16 or 17 years of age and then came here, moving to Glasgow and dealing with the expectation is magnificent.

“I can’t speak high enough of Gedion, I think he will go on to play at the very highest level of the game.”

Injury ruled the midfielder out of the recent defeat to Falkirk and he then missed the Hibernian game last Monday before returning to the side as a substitute in Saturday’s 6-0 mauling of Dumbarton.

The young American has also seen action with the USA Olympic squad this season as they look forward to the Rio Games this summer.
