MAURICE EDU and Alejandro Bedoya look unlikely to play for Rangers again as Ally McCoist insists he only wants players committed to the club’s new journey.

Both Americans have made it plain they want to quit Ibrox and as a result McCoist has not picked them for tonight’s game with East Fife.

He will now hope to move them on quickly so that he can bring in fresh stars – and he also needs clarity from other senior figures over whether they will remain with Rangers.

It seems inconceivable that Carlos Bocanegra will remain given that he hopes to lead the USA at the 2014 World Cup in Brazil and all McCoist wants is quick answers.

He is pleased that certain players chose to come back to the club when nine others refused to do so and denied Ranges much-needed revenue from transfer fees.

But he expects a few more departures and all he wants is a heads up – quickly.

He said: “Edu and Bedoya are not in the squad due to the fact that they want to leave.

“I have thanked all the players for coming back. We have lost 23 players since January and a lot of them chose not to come back to the club.

“You will have to ask them why they didn’t come back and allow the club to get transfer fees.

“I am not daft enough to think that a few of those who came back will still leave. All I have asked them is that if they are going to do that could they do it as quickly as possible in the respect of the club and the team moving forward.”

Ross Perry is still out for Rangers with a calf problem but Chris Hegarty and Andy Mitchell can return to the squad after registration red tape.

McCoist said: ““We are really looking forward to it. A few old friends are coming back – Gordon Durie especially.

“”We have done it as professionally as we normally do. We have had them watched a couple of times so we have done our homework

“It’s the first home game and we are really looking forward to it.

“A couple of the younger boys haven’t played at Ibrox so we had some training there to give them a feel for it and see the park.

“There is a real excitement and I have been really excited too. The standard in training has been good and the tempo has been upbeat.”
